Who is responsible
Same Justice a.s.b.l., a non-profit association under Belgian law, Rue Locquenghien 41, 1000 Brussels, Belgium (enterprise number BE 0721.629.619), is responsible for the personal data processed through samejustice.org. For any question about your data, write to info@samejustice.org.
When you visit the website
Like every web server, our hosting provider records each request in its server logs: your IP address, the date and time, the page requested, the page you came from and your browser. These logs keep the website secure and working, which is our legitimate interest (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR), and the provider keeps them only for a limited time.
We also check every day for addresses on the website that don't work. For this we keep the requested address, the date, the referring page and the browser name, but not your IP address.
When you contact us
The contact form asks for your name, your email address, a subject and your message. They are sent by email to the Same Justice team at info@samejustice.org and kept in the mail log of our website's content management system. We use them only to answer you, at your request (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR), and keep them only as long as we need to deal with your message and any follow-up.
Please share only what we need to answer you. If your message concerns a sensitive matter, tell us first and we will agree a safer way to talk.
Cookies and analytics
The website sets no cookies unless you agree. When you first visit, a banner asks whether we may use Google Analytics, provided by Google Ireland Limited, to count visits and see which pages are read. Only if you press Accept does the website load Google Analytics, which then sets its cookies (_ga and _ga_*, kept for up to two years). The legal basis is your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). Google may process this data in the United States, under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework.
You can change your choice at any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page; declining removes the Google Analytics cookies. Your choice itself is kept in your browser (local storage, not a cookie) for twelve months, and never sent to us.
Links, sharing and videos
The share buttons under articles are plain links: nothing is sent to X, Facebook, LinkedIn, WhatsApp, Telegram or your email program unless you click one. Videos are links to YouTube rather than embedded players, and the website's fonts are served from our own server, so no third party is contacted when you read a page.
Who receives your data
- our hosting provider, which runs the website and the system that sends the contact form's messages;
- our email provider, which hosts the info@samejustice.org mailbox;
- Google, only if you accept analytics.
We do not sell or share your data with anyone else.
Your rights
You have the right to access your personal data, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to its use, to receive it in a portable form, and to withdraw your consent at any time without affecting what happened before. Write to info@samejustice.org; we answer within one month.
If you believe we have not handled your data properly, you can complain to the Belgian Data Protection Authority (Autorité de protection des données / Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit), Rue de la Presse 35, 1000 Brussels, www.dataprotectionauthority.be.
Changes
We update this policy when the website changes. The date at the top shows the latest version.
